Human systems dynamics (HSD) prepares you to thrive in an uncertain future.
When you see, understand, and influence complex, wicked issues, nothing is intractable.
Are you interested in becoming a certified HSD Professional, but you cannot commit to the face-to-face portion of the program? If so, this program is for you. We will launch a new opportunity, beginning August 15 and extending through December 19. You are invited to join us in an all-virtual Human Systems Dynamics (HSD) Professional Certification program.

- Skip long-distance, away-from-home travel, and engage online for five half-day sessions that launch three months of application and learning
So what are the elements of the course?
- All-virtual course that engages you over a 3-month period to build your skill and understanding of HSD
- Individual and group learning sessions that focus on the challenges participants bring to the program
- Personal coaching and support from an experienced HSD Professional who has been through the training

Time Zone Converter - Three scheduled group meetings each month
- One individual coaching session each month
- Documentation/Discussions in response to the learning units
- Four Adaptive Action Experiments to work on your own sticky issues
- Discussions and deep learning from Adaptive Action: Leveraging Complexity in Your Organization
- Required learning activities that address the following areas: Lead in Complex Times, Plan in Complexity, Manage Complex Change, Build Adaptive Capacity, and Collaborate to Create Community

Faculty & Coaches
Royce Holladay has been working to support people as they navigate change for over 30 years. With a Master's degree in counseling, she began learning about the dynamics of personal change and has been using those skills in multiple areas of her work and personal life since that time. She has worked with individuals of all ages, supporting them to find their own path through the challenges of their complex lives. Over the past decade, Royce has co-authored five books based on Human Systems Dynamics. Her most recent books are a series of brief guides designed to help people apply HSD principles to specific areas of work in human systems. Examples include coaching, instructional design, and facilitation.
Barrie McClune is an independent Organization Development Consultant in the San Francisco Bay Area. For the past 15 years, she has supported organizations as they move the needle on issues like health equity, food security, racial justice, early childhood education, and culture.
Barrie’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Humanistic Studies from McGill University, a Masters in Critical Media and Cultural Studies from SOAS, University of London, and a Masters in Organization Development from Sonoma State University. She is also a certified practitioner of Human Systems Dynamics. Her work in strategic communications and organization development are rooted in the notion that people can (and do!) change their minds and their behaviors in the right conditions. Her work relies on dynamic processes, applied behavior science methods, research, and theory to support groups as they make sense of uncertainty and take informed action.
Barrie also sings soprano in a Bay Area women’s ensemble called Musae, enjoys learning alongside her two young children, and is a regular participant in the Human Systems Dynamics Institute’s daily inquiry-based open sessions. (She loves a good question!)
