Our assumptions are like the water that holds the goldfish! We don’t know that we are swimming in our assumptions. They are like the air we breathe. We grow up thinking about the world in certain ways. We expect the world to respond to us according to perceptions and agreements that have established the curbs to guide and shape our lives at home, in the community, or at work.

These curbs worked relatively well in times that were less complex. Our lives were more siloed. We could function as though we lived and worked in closed systems. We didn’t have to pay attention to the diversity or interdependence between and among different elements of our lives. But in the complexity of today’s world, we can no longer function that way. The old assumptions no longer match today’s reality.

Join Glenda Eoyang to talk about some of these most stymying assumptions and learn about alternative ways to make sense of your world. In this lab, you will:

  • Recognize the challenges of living in our old assumptions
  • Explore 4 assumptions that limit our potential in today’s world
  • Plan responses, using new assumptions to address your greatest challenges
