HSD Simple Rule 2: Zoom in and zoom out
May 2, 2024
A self-organizing system is Complex Adaptive Systems all the way down! Every level of engagement—from cells to black holes—consists of agents that interact and generate system-wide patterns. All of these levels are massively entangled and mutually causal. Each level emerges from the one below and contributes to the one above. Understanding a complex system requires that you understand more than one of its closely woven levels. The practice of “zooming in and zooming out” allows you to collect information from many places, while you take intentional action in the space(s) you touch. In this workshop, you will learn five simple tools to help you see, understand, and influence parts and their emergent wholes.
