Leadership and Oversight  

HSD Institute uses two advisory Boards to support its work:  

The Institute Board of Directors is made up of six members and supports the Executive Director in an advisory role. Members are invited to serve three-year terms. Click here to see names and bios of the current Institute Board members.  

The HSD Institute Board of Directors will be:
  • Nominated by a nominating committee of the Board
  • Elected by the current Board of Directors in October of each year
  • Invited to serve for three-year term, with one-term limit. After at least one year off of the Board, a person may be re-nominated to serve another three-year term
  • Chaired by one, elected by the majority of Board members
  • Expected to:
    • Accept fiduciary responsibility for Human Systems Dynamics Institute
    • Serve without compensation
    • Serve from January 1 to December 31
    • Provide encouragement, direction, strategy, continuity, policy development
    • Attend at least three of the four quarterly meetings each year   

The HSD Network Board is made up of five Associates, elected by Associates, who serve as advisors to the Director of The Network. Members serve three-year terms. Click here to see names and bios of the current Network Board members. 

The purpose of the Network Board is to develop and establish conditions necessary to build effective networks among and for the Associates of the Human Systems Dynamics Institute. 

The selection process for the Network Board:  After the first year, Associates will be nominated by nominating committee of the Network Board.  

Role of the Network Board:
  • Advisory to the Director of The Network concerning support for and networking among the Associates
  • Select their Chair at their first meeting each year
  • Establish operational and governance structures as needed to carry out the work of the Network Board, using this document as working draft
  • Identify ways to support Associates as they come together to work and/or learn
  • Respond to Associates’ input concerning Network supports
  • Identify common interests that can bring Associates together in their explorations
  • Find ways to amplify patterns of interactions that move Associates along in their learning and new applications
  • Engage Associates in learning and social activities related to the semi-annual meetings, advanced cohort sessions, and online communities
  • Identify and establish necessary standing committees to continue the work of the Network Board
