      <description>&lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;Glenda Eoyang will be the featured speaker at the Oregon ODN's March meeting:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;Change is changing.&amp;nbsp; We&amp;rsquo;re experiencing a new, uncertain, and emergent world in our diverse practices and lives.&amp;nbsp; Leaders, OD and HR practitioners, front-line service providers, and consultants of all kinds see their best-laid plans interrupted, disrupted, and disintegrated into chaotic messes.&amp;nbsp; The problem is that traditional theory and our habits of practice do not&amp;mdash;indeed they cannot&amp;mdash;accommodate the new and unpredictable patterns of transformation that we observe.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The rules and competencies of the past were designed to help us play and win a finite game.&amp;nbsp; Today we are playing an infinite game where the rules change constantly, the field is the whole and unbounded system, opponents are partners, learning is a survival skill, and the purpose is not to win, but to ensure that the play continues.&amp;nbsp; The change culture of the future develops adaptive capacity for individuals, leadership teams, and organizations.&amp;nbsp; Adaptive capacity is the ability to see simple patterns in a mess, explore creative options, take courageous action, and look for simple patterns again.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In the field of human systems dynamics, we call this process Adaptive Action.&amp;nbsp; In our time together, you&amp;rsquo;ll experience the power of self-organizing systems and see the conditions that create, and allow you to influence, chaotic messes for individuals, teams, organizations, and communities.&amp;nbsp; You will engage with others in experiential exercises, small and large group discussion, and shared reflection.&amp;nbsp; You will use what you learn to create an Adaptive Action plan to approach the messiest of your messy issues.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;The principal aim of the INSC is to provide a scholarly environment conducive to promoting exchanges between an array of disciplines to facilitate research and related academic activities in collaboration with colleagues worldwide.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;The topics covered by the conference include applications of nonlinear dynamical systems theory and techniques to problems encountered in any area of the behavioral, social and life sciences including psychology, sociology, economics, management sciences, anthropology, aesthetics, education, biology, physiology, ecology, neuroscience and medicine. One or more of the following nonlinear concepts must be an explicit part of the presentation: attractors, bifurcations, chaos, fractals, solitons, catastrophes, self-organizing processes, cellular automata, agent-based models, network analysis, genetic algorithms and related evolutionary processes, econophysics, dynamical diseases, or closely related constructs. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;The broad mixture of the disciplines represented here indicates that many bodies of knowledge share common principles.&amp;nbsp; Contributions from other disciplines such as computer science, mathematics and engineering are also welcome provided the main focus of the paper is an application of nonlinear science in the behavioral, social or biological sciences.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;Submit abstracts for papers, posters, and symposia through the INSC2012 website:&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="http://www.societyforchaostheory.org/insc/2012/"&gt; http://www.societyforchaostheory.org/insc/2012/&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Deadline December 21, 2011.&amp;nbsp; &amp;ldquo;Early Bird&amp;rdquo; submissions will begin to receive responses after Nov. 15.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h2 xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;About the&amp;nbsp;Conference&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;The International Nonlinear Science Conference (INSC), which is sponsored by SCTPLS in conjunction with a featured university, is the ideal venue for presenting original work applying nonlinear dynamics and related concepts to psychology and the life sciences.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;For 21 years, the Society and its conferences have been founded in the principles of interdisciplinary work,&amp;nbsp;acknowledging the&amp;nbsp;ubiquity of nonlinear dynamics&amp;nbsp;across&amp;nbsp;the behavioral, social,&amp;nbsp;and life sciences.&amp;nbsp; The conference is typically&amp;nbsp;intimate in size&amp;nbsp;with around 60-70 attendees&amp;nbsp;representing psychology, biology, economics, business,&amp;nbsp;physics, mathematics, and other scholars&amp;nbsp;organized around a common&amp;nbsp;interest in nonlinear dynamics.&amp;nbsp; Attendance is typically broad geographically as well, with membership in SCTPLS representing each of the global continents.&amp;nbsp; The program includes prominent keynote speakers, cutting-edge pre-conference workshops, symposia, individual sessions, and posters presentations.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;This year will bring the 5th INSC to beautiful Barcelona, Spain.&amp;nbsp; The dates for the conference are set for&amp;nbsp;March 15-17, 2012.&amp;nbsp; Our sponsoring institution will be the historic University of Barcelona &amp;ndash; a fine destination for culture, tourism, and scientific progress.&amp;nbsp; &lt;a href="http://www.societyforchaostheory.org/insc/2012/"&gt;Go here for more information.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;Please consider submitting a proposal to present at AEA's premiere meeting for Evaluators, Evaluation 2012, to be held Wednesday, October 24, through Saturday, October 27, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;We are calling on all who work or study in the field of evaluation to propose to share your best work in evaluation theory or practice at the annual conference of the American Evaluation Association.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;We anticipate over 2500 colleagues to gather for a week of learning, collaboration, and connection in the "City by Nature," Minneapolis, Minnesota.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt;The conference is broken down into over 40 Topical Strands that examine the field from the vantage point of a particular methodology, context, or issue as well as the Presidential Strand highlighting this year's Presidential Theme of Evaluation in Complex Ecologies: Relationships, Responsibilities, Relevance.
