Dr. H. Yvonne Cheek is president of the Millennium Consulting Group in Minneapolis. With her multi-ethnic team of associates, she works with private, public and non profit organizations to accelerate intentional change. National and local projects in which the firm is engaged include launching bold initiatives, employee engagement, curriculum design, training, strategic planning, creating visions and missions, diversity initiatives, team alignment, trust building, assessments, internal consultative skills, board governance, meeting design, retreat/meeting facilitation, and community engagement.
Millennium Consulting Group’s mission is to engage organizations, groups, and individuals in processes of discovery that accelerate high performance and directly affect the bottom line. This small business is minority and woman-owned. The firm is often invited to expand organizations’ thinking about reaching new markets, being more inclusive in policies and practices, and creating a more productive work environment that benefits all of the stakeholders. Results-oriented and client- specific, all of the firm’s work is issue-based and customized. Helping clients solve problems, manage polarities, and reduce problem creation are a primary focus.
One of the highlights of Yvonne’s career was co-designing and facilitating a White House conference on Women and Leadership. Yvonne’s background includes teaching at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the University of Puget Sound, directing the citizen education program at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, and being a manager in corporate marketing at Control Data Corporation. Her past civic involvement includes: being a trustee of the Jerome Foundation, being a board member of the United Way of Minneapolis, Women Venture, KFAI Radio, Vocal Essence, and the Minnesota Orchestra. She is a founding member of the Greater Twin Cities United Way Women’s Leadership Council, a member of the Center for Black Philanthropy and the Minnesota Women’s Economic Round Table, and a trustee of the Sundance Family Foundation and the Blandin Foundation.
Yvonne’s bachelor’s and master’s degrees are from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and her Ph.D. is from the University of Michigan.
