Ron Carr Organization Development And Change Consultant Ottawa, ON Canada
I have been in the field of OD with the Canadian federal government, and now as a private consultant, for over 25 years. I have taken numerous programs through NTL Institute and in recent years have concentrated my consulting work on client systems that are undergoing significant change and transformation. I have also studied with Linda Ackerman Anderson of Being First Inc., and stay in contact with her and other leading consultants such as Dave Ulrich. I was a Director of an in-house OD shop at Human Resources and Skills Development Canada for about 8 years before I left that department to work on whole government level change at the central agency that looks after HR management for the public service of Canada. Orchestrating change across a 300,000 person public sector was challenging and I learned a lot about working where there is readiness and energy.
I experienced Glenda’s work several years ago when she came to Ottawa to run an HSD event and I have connected with her and this thinking ever since. Although I use many of these concepts in my daily consulting work, my interest in the certification stems from a desire to more fully integrate the HSD concepts and mindset into my consulting work. I find that I have a tendency to slip in and out of HSD thinking and hope I can more fully center my consulting approach and the other change approaches I use to a more solid HSD foundation.
I am retired and choose to consult for a portion of my time but not on a full time basis. I am at a stage of life where other interests are important to me and the consulting work keeps me intellectually engaged. It also generates additional revenues which comes in handy for a retired person!
