Jens Coldewey

Jens ColdeweyAssociate since 2011

it-agile GmbH Munich, Germany

Jens Coldewey is managing director of it-agile, one of the leading German companies on agile software development. His personal mission is to make software development a better place, where teams of highly skilled individuals are facilitated by managers who are driven by their value system, rather than only by profit and resume optimization. Jens tries to live this mission both in his own company and with his clients.

Having studied Computer Science at the Technical University of Munich he started his professional career as programmer, architect and project manager back in 1991. After a rather traditional education as waterfall project manager he came into contact with the pattern community and several early thinkers of agile, including Alistair Cockburn, Jim Highsmith and Kent Beck in 1996. At the end of 1997 he decided to go his own way and started as an independent consultant, specializing in Agile Software Development.

Jens became board member of the Agile Alliance in 2003 and helped to organize several international conferences on software development and Agile in the program committee, such as OOPSLA, XP and the early Agile conferences. He has published more than 50 articles and contributed to several books on the topic. In 2008 he became Senior Consultant of the Agile Product and Project Management Practices of the Cutter Consortium, Boston, MA. In 2010 he joined it-agile and started as managing director, building their Munich office.
