Ian Creery is a Senior Consultant in the Strategic Change Group. He has broad-based experience in the private and public sectors as a learning and organization development consultant. Mr. Creery joined the Canada School of Public Service in 2002 to establish the Consulting Services Unit that would later become the Strategic Change Group. Among other initiatives, he developed an integrated learning strategy for the implementation of the new Public Service Modernization Act and has managed a four-year technology transfer project with the ENAP (Brazilian National School of Public Administration).

Before coming to the Canada School of Public Service, Mr. Creery spent 12 years in private consulting practice, where he used strong problem-solving and facilitation skills to help executive and senior management teams improve their effectiveness in managing change in their organizations. He worked extensively with the human resources function in many organisations, teaching them how to develop strategic business partnering skills and setting up teams of internal consultants. He also worked for many years with Canada’s national broadcaster, the CBC, to develop management training and development programs. He spent the first decade of his career in Canada’s North, working in community development and learning to speak Inuktitut.

Mr. Creery holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Manitoba.
